Message from the President

We are living in a time of heightened concern due to our current state budget outlook. We have created this web site in an effort to keep you informed about the latest legislative developments and to alert you to decisions being made by the university about the upcoming budget reductions.

This web site includes a set of questions that we believe will address a variety of outstanding issues about the budget in addition to responses to some of the questions we have received to date and a link to my office’s email address so that you may submit your own questions, comments and concerns. We will try to post answers to your new questions as soon as we receive them. We have also created two archives – one containing my weekly budget updates and one containing the PowerPoint budget presentations made by Vice President and CFO Vivian Sanchez to various university groups. For your information, we have included a link to FIU’s Office of Governmental Relations web site.

The budget challenge facing FIU is a first of a kind. It is only by working through this process together that our institution will emerge stronger than before and better equipped to serve the needs of our students and community in the years ahead.
