About
The Office of the President consists of policy, planning, and operations to help further advance FIU's mission.
Florida International University welcomed its first class in 1972 under the guidance of FIU's first president Charles E. Perry. Since that first class—under the collective effort of five FIU presidents—the university has graduated more than 200,000 alumni and expanded to two campuses and 10 satellite locations.
On Jan. 21, 2022, the FIU Board of Trustees appointed Kenneth A. Jessell as FIU interim president, and on Oct. 17, 2022, unanimously voted him president-designate. On Nov. 9, 2022, Dr. Jessell was confirmed by the Florida Board of Governors as the sixth president of FIU.
