Good morning, everyone! I am delighted to be in the City Beautiful and at this renowned Coral Gables landmark for this year’s World Strategic Forum.
In the room today, I see many familiar faces – some of you are FIU alumni – who are great advocates and supporters of FIU, one of the nation’s top public research institutions.
Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal ranked FIU number 4 among public universities. FIU also ranked among the top 10 universities in the nation for return on investment.
It’s great to be in your company for what promises to be an insightful and productive forum.
This year, FIU’s Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom is a proud co-host of the World Strategic Forum.
I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the Center’s Founding Director, Carlos DiazRosillo, for his leadership and tireless efforts to establish the partnership between FIU and the World Strategic Forum.
Our university is at the epicenter of finding solutions to the world’s most pressing issues—environmental resilience, technology, healthcare, infrastructure, and more. With more than $300 million in annual research expenditures, FIU is making an impact where it matters most and preparing our students to lead with knowledge, passion, and innovation.
Over the next few days, as you touch upon complex issues around global trade, the environment, leadership, and others, we invite you to tap into the expertise of our researchers, our faculty members, and especially our students—who represent our future.
Together, we can do our part to make our world a better place.
